Kurios -  A Student Ministry of West Point Grey Baptist Church

Our hope at Kurios is that students will come to know the God who loves them and what he has done for them in Jesus Christ, that they will grow as disciples of Jesus Christ daily, that they will show others what it means to be a Christian, and that their lives will flow with the deep, deep joy of Christ; all as the Holy Spirit works in their lives.

 How Kurios Will Help You
Know, Grow, Show & Flow:

"Know"ing - CRAVE

"Grow"ing - REFUGE

"Show"ing - SERVE

"Flow"ing - CRAZY

What does Kurios mean?

"Kurios" (kur...eee...awsss) is the name for the West Point Grey Bapist youth group.
There are two main reasons for the name:

1) Kurios is the English translation of the Greek word meaning “Lord” (the New Testament is written in Greek)…this was a term that Jesus' followers often called Jesus and it means "master" or "ruler".  The biggest decision people have to make in their lives is who or what will be Lord (master/ruler) in their own life...our hope is that they (you) choose Jesus.

2)  Kurios sounds a lot like “curious”.  This is fitting because Kurios give
s teens the opportunity to ask questions about God, life, and all that is important to them in a safe environment.

The theme verse behind Kurios is Acts 2:36 which says:

“…God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord (kurios) and Christ."

People will probably still refer to Kurios events as "youth group" and this is totally fine.  But maybe if you do call it Kurios your friends will say "what?" and it will give you a cool opportunity to explain what it means.
